Our special mini-ghost hunt begins with an exclusive ghost tour of Evesham itself – famous for its many ghosts and hauntings! Your guide will take you along the site of the Bloody Battle of Evesham, you will hear the tale of the haunted shoe shops, the terrible punishments carried out in the Town Square, the appearance of the Virgin Mary and the statue that moves! These and many more scary tales begin the first hour of your evening. What better way to begin a ghost hunt than by spending some time in a haunted graveyard?
You will then return to the location of our mini ghost hunt – “Spiritus”. It is a building with a Georgian Facade but the wattle and daub walls and timber frames tell us that the building is, in fact, at least 500 years old.
The Bloody Battle of Evesham took place outside the building, on the High Street. It is known that some soldiers ran into the houses for cover, as Simon De Montfort’s men were outnumbered and were being, quite literally, hacked to pieces. Maybe the headless horseman who has been seen riding outside the shop, is in fact part of De Montfort’s army? Or who knows, even Simon himself??
In the upstairs front room, is a stone window frame which was taken from Evesham Abbey when it was knocked down by Henry VIII during the dissolution of the monasteries between 1536 and 1541. The cellar also holds secrets - it is cram packed with Abbey stone, which gives the area a serene and peaceful feeling – that is until the lights go out the monk appears.
The Ghosts of Spiritus are numerous and include:
- The cellar monk often appears in the shop is known to interact with trigger objects and visitors.
- Appearances of green mists and lights in the Gothic Church Room and strange breezes are felt over the hands and neck.
- Heavy footsteps and dragging sounds heard in the kitchen
- The full-length mirrors in the kitchen are used for scrying – and the results achieved can be astounding – and alarming.
- The ghost of Mary, the young girl who hanged herself when pregnant with the master’s child
- The ghost of a Victorian Doctor who wasn’t averse to a bit of body snatching and experimentation. The Doctor an unfriendly spirit and often appears right in front of ghost-hunters faces, giving a feeling of intimidation and fear.
For the next part of the night you will be split into small groups and take part in small ghost hunting vigils in the most haunted areas including the cellar!
I attended your event and had a fantastic night! I appreciate all the organisation you took for the night and experienced some ghostly phenomena. All in all it was a night packed with action, some of which I kept to myself only to be confirmed by the medium and other guests later on. Thank you for a life changing experience, hope to see you on another event soon. J Ibbertson
