BRAND NEW LOCATION FOR FRIGHT NIGHTS SURREY

The Priest House is a 15th century timber framed hall house deep within the county of Sussex. It was built for the Priory of St Pancras in Lewes as an estate office to manage the land they owned in the area, but it was seized by Henry VIII following the dissolution of the monasteries. It was subsequently it belonged to Anne of Cleves, Thomas Cromwell, Mary 1st and Elizabeth 1st.

The Priest House passed into private ownership in 1560 and was owned my yeoman farmers until 1695. For the following two hundred years it was owned by absentee landlords who allowed it to fall into a state of disrepair.

It was restored by Jon Godwin King and he presented it to the Sussex Archaeological Society in 1935. The house and garden have been open to the public since 1908.

Figures have been seen outside in the surrounding gardens in the dead of night. Footsteps and knockings have also been heard, especially in the upper rooms. Voices have been heard and recorded on EVP devices on previous investigations. A figure of a hooded figure as also been seen on numerous occasions standing in one particular corner of a room just staring at guests as they walk through the building.

Join Fright Nights Surrey on our first ghost hunt investigation of this very old and unique venue in the middle of a medieval village deep within the county of Sussex. Will the symbolic markings scratched into the door and window frames protect us from the coven of witches that said to surround the house at night?!

There is street parking opposite the house.

Refreshments, hot and cold drinks plus some snacks (crisps/biscuits), will be provided, please feel free to bring your own food if you wish e.g. sandwiches.

Please arrive no later than 7.45pm for a 8pm start. A member of staff will be outside by the gate to welcome you and direct you to the front door.

Don’t forget to bring a torch as we will be in darkness for most of the event! Please wear sensible footwear and clothing as it may be cool during the night.

Please note: Over 18’s only and NO pregnant women allowed as per our insurance cover.
