Come and join us for our first visit to Neatishead Radar Museum which promises to be a very atmospheric and spooky evening.
Built in 1941 the airfields housed many aircraft and crew and in 1942 saw the introduction of a radar building. The first radars used on this site were mobile but they eventually gave way to the more advanced static type which played a big part in spotting Nazi aircraft making their way to our shores. After World War II the radars were kept in use as the threat of the cold war with the Soviet Union loomed. In 1957 the UK government decided to opt for nuclear weapons therefore an air defence unit at this site was no longer required but the radars were kept in use to seek out any Soviet nuclear weapons making their way towards us.
The Hauntings : On 16th February 1966 a fire broke out, local fire crews rushed to the site but three fire fighters lost their lives in the inferno. Apparitions of fire fighters have been seen on the land, voices heard and poltergeist activity witnessed. Based in an empty airfield and a haunted museum what will we uncover and what will we come face to face with? This truly isn’t one for the faint hearted, are you brave enough?
