Known as The Shire Hall, this independent museum situated on High Pavement in the Lace Market in Nottingham is a truly important building. The Galleries of Justice is a large building and houses what was once the old Gaol, the Police Station and a Victorian Courtroom. It is a site of historical importance and is the only place where an individual could be arrested, sentenced and executed. It is also the only venue where Most Haunted have visited 3 times over the years, along with Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters International.

The earliest confirmed use of the site for official purposes was by the Normans, who appointed sheriffs to keep the peace and collect taxes; hence the site was also referred to as the Sheriff’s Hall, the County Hall or the Kings Hall. The first written record of the site being used as a law court dates from 1375.  The building was also used as a police station from 1905 to 1985, with the courts finally closing in 1986.

Come and join us for an extreme ghost hunting experience, in a ghost hunt like no other, as we venture in search of the spirits and ghosts that lurk within in one terrifying night. Explore 3 chilling locations in the same building after dark and conduct Vigils, Séances and use electronic equipment in search of the ghostly inhabitants that have made themselves known on the many visits we have had at this incredible location.

Are you brave enough to join us?

The Galleries of Justice & Police Cells Ghost Hunt includes:

  • Initial Briefing including information about fright nights, health and safety talk, and what will happen on the night.
  • Mediumship walk round – who haunts tonight?
  • Psychic experiments including séances, glass divination, your own senses and more.
  • Ghost Hunting Vigils in the dark with our medium.
  • Ghost Hunting Vigils using various pieces of ghost hunting equipment.
  • Extreme Vigils in the Cells for smaller groups using spirit boards.
  • (You can opt out of the above if you do not wish to partake)
  • Hot Drinks and Biscuits.
  • Your chance to ghost hunt in a haunted location at night!

Descend onto darkness from the Courts of the Galleries of Justice in the footsteps of those condemned to death or imprisonment and throw open the cell doors in the County Police Station, which operated until 1985 all of which sits on the site of a Medieval Hostelry called Castle Inn. Each of these mysterious locations has a long history of misery and torment and all are renowned for being extremely haunted.

The eerie silence of the dark Police Station has been broken by the piercing sounds of cell doors being opened and closed and some who were shut inside the interview room have even reported seeing a ghostly face staring back at them through the glass. It is not uncommon to experience Poltergeist activity deep within the bowels of the Galleries of Justice.

Over our years exploring this venue, there has been so much paranormal activity recorded at each location that it will be really difficult to decide which is the most haunted area. You will be able to spend a significant time in all locations working out for yourselves what is going on and carrying out your own ghost hunting experiments.  If you are investigating the paranormal for the first time you will be closely supervised and supported by our teams throughout the night as you learn how to become a real ghost hunter.

Fright Nights have hired the Galleries of Justice for the night where you are joined by experienced paranormal investigators and our medium, to try and experience paranormal activity in three of the most haunted locations in Nottingham. Full use of Ghost Hunting and Psychic equipment will be provided as well as hot refreshments through the night.

Please note: Over 18’s only and NO pregnant women allowed as per our insurance cover. Venue is unsuitable for disabled guests due to the nature of the building. NO accommodation is provided unless specifically detailed. For more information please see our full terms and conditions here. This event is organised by Fright Nights Head Office.
