Cusworth Hall is a Georgian country house that was originally built in the 1700’s for the Wrightson family. The house has gone through several alterations and additions as the house has been passed down through generations of the family.

One of the additions was to add a chapel in 1753 and this can still be seen today. The basement was also adapted to create an intimate school area for the family’s children.

During World War Two Cusworth Hall was occupied by the army and was used as a makeshift base. The officers were stationed within the house itself while the troops were living in huts that were erected in the grounds. Since then the hall has been taken over by the local council and turned into a museum that houses many local artefacts.

There are many tales of spooky happenings over the years, unsurprising considering Cusworth’s age and vast history. Many staff members have had experiences and are happy to talk about them including:

The playing of the piano when the lid over the keys was locked
Opening and closing of doors around the house
A child seen through the window of a room that is not accessible to the public
A maid seen walking through many different rooms of the house
Many sightings of children in the old school rooms
Random cold spots throughout the house

Join us for a night that you will not forget in a venue where even staff dare not enter certain areas alone!
