The Bleeding Friar, oldest resident of Blackfriars Priory, is said to creep down corridors with an open head wound and hover near the dungeon. It is reported that the monks who lived at Blackfriars “…had to take on traditional monastic vows of poverty, chastity and obedience; they would have attended church nine times a day…” – maybe this one is trapped in this repetitive routine? Perhaps you’ll hear his ghostly chants and smell the burning of beeswax candles.
A mass burial ground was recently found on site filled with hundreds of skeletons of women and children…is the Black Monk protecting them?
A site in use for over 600 years, first as a medieval priory and later for more modern uses…will we experience newer phenomenon too?
